Welcome to the Budell Bunny Barn!
Budell Bunny Barn is a family operation that includes my husband, Jessie, children; TaylorRae (11), Briann (10), Christian
(6), Cade (3) and myself, Brandi.
We specialize in the Mini Rex breed only. Our interest in the Mini Rex breed started in 1998, when I purchased
my first broken black doe, Pepper. I instantly fell in love with her soft fur and sweet personality. Unexperienced
in the whole breeding and showing realm, I started buying any "cute" rabbit I could get my hands on. It didn't take
long to fill our barn and then some. Finally later in the same year, I meet a fellow rabbit breeder, Karen Jones, and
soon learned that I was out of control and needed to basically start over and focus. So, I sold and gave away my rabbits.
I purchased a mini lop from Karen and within a month was at my first show. My mini lop, Bubbles, took 2nd place in her
first show. Unfortunantly, we had an unexpected move and I had to sell Bubbles back to Karen and part with the whole
rabbit scene for the next 7 years.
In March of 2005, I decided that I wanted to get back into raising rabbits. I got online and began to seek out
mini rex breeders. I found Silo Rabbitry in Helena, Montana, owned by Cam & Dorianne Minkoff-Brown. I
set up to meet them at a rabbit show and was invited to their rabbitry, where I purchased my first 6 rabbits.
Dorianne has fabulous rabbits with top lines in their rabbitry.
Cam & Dorianne have become great friends of ours and a true asset to my rabbit breeding program and education.
I feel very privledged to be able to work with Dorianne. Thanks Cam & Dorianne for everything!!
In June of 2005, my husband and I traveled to Junction City, Oregon and meet Tricia Romine. Tricia is a very successful
rabbit breeder with some fantastic lines in her rabbitry. We purchased 6 beautiful rabbits, including our biggest success,
Exterminater, our caster senior buck, that just took Best In Show Reserve at the Montana State Fair. THANKS TRICIA!!!!
This is just the beginning for us. We are excited to be able to show Budells Carmella, a caster doe, that
carries "our" name. We have several in next boxes, including, chocolate, lilac, black, red, caster & broken
black.
Our goal is to breed QUALITY not Quantity.
